Foil Shizzle its Halloween!

Great week/weekend!

Its been the same ole, same ole. Classes part of the week, and of course work. Have been doing some more wedding planning as well, and things with that are coming along good. this morning Debs, her mom, and I actually went to The Place to check it out. Its very nice looking, and have outside areas which I like. Its also right behind the awsome Capital Ale House. Thing is, they are expensive. If we want a keg, its $250! Eh, it just the first in getting a place, but its coming together well.

Mike was back in town from iraq, so we saw him some. there was a party at my place last weekend, kinda for him. But after 12 beers and a shot of JD with me, he was upstairs most of the night ;-).

Tuesday went to a birthday get together for a gal Sarah. Well, we go downstairs to the game room at the downtown location, and guess who is sitting with Sarah! MEG! Yes, for those who have known me for a while, THAT MEG. Her and her older sister carrie were down there. Meg lost quite a bit of weight, so it took me a while to recognize her. She of course saw me. But, then it gets funny. She tried to hide her face behind her purse! She also kept looking over, but if i looked at them, she would turn away! So when I went upstairs to get a Stone IPA, they all left! I did get a GREAT laugh though!

I also have found myself spending quite a bit more time at 1411…which I really like. Debs and Courtney have been chilling a whole lot. I think having a couple friends down there helps debs move into her new store at Harrison and Grace. They have gone to see her a few times, and I know it really helps her day.

Thursday we all finally made it back to Mars Bar! We took like two weeks off due to crazy school stuff, people being sick/tired, amy’s sister, and people being out of town on break. It was great, other than one of my Long Islands that tasted like crap.

Friday helped nathan work on a 2002 GAGT. We kinda broke the light fixture, but oh well. They should make the instructions much better. Afterwards we went to a party downtown, but only stayed till about 12. Debs had to work early, so I wanted her to get home. The party was nice, but a bit crowded. Knew quite a few people there from high school.

Saturday was a blast though. We went to a dinner for Mike, which was interesting. But then debs and I were on the run to finish our costumes and get things together. We then went down to 1411 so I could get the wonderfull artist courtney to do my makeup and make me a shirt with a hotdog on it. And yes, im keeping the shirt!

The first party of the night was at Amy’s. Was quite nice, and dark. had a few Newcastles, as well as talk to a bunch of people. Mike came, as well as Steve, my older step bro. We left Amys at like 12 or 1, and then went out to the westend to Morgan’s brothers house. This party was nice, 3 PBR kegs out back! No one had a clue who I was though ( I went as Captian Spaulding from House of 1000 Corpses/Devils Rejects, both Rob Zombie movies ). We stayed there for quite a while, and then went downtown for food. But both 3rd and 4th st diners were packed! AT 3AM!

This week, the same in store. I dont know what im doing tonight, but game for just about anything. I know AD’s birthday is this wednesday, so I think we are doing something this weekend for him. I also think by the end of the week we will have a place for the reception done.

pretty crazy

Wow…this last week has been wild. I have spent most every night programing on this STUPID project. I love to program, but some class assignments are not fun. This one is nice with all the stuff I i got to learn, and to sit back and see that you wrote something. This class is to teach you the aspects of project management too.

Well, the professor for one has website. Like any professor, they keep their old stuff. So he has tons of code, GUI shots, and examples. thing is, not a darn one matches! I pitty da fool that copied his code. There is a main area with the requirements, but it doesnt match things that are on his site elsewhere. and im a programer, but this was a DARN huge program to do for a not programing class as well. And while I know its a sr. projects class…its still a class. I paid for this guy to teach me, not for me to be able to ask him questions. Luckily I have one last section of code to write tonight, and then im sending it in. I have some documentation to do as well, but most of that is either done, or can be generated with little work from me.

Fall break has started, but of course that doesnt matter with me working every day. And I have to work this saturday! Debs is supposed to go with Courtney to see Courtney’s sister tomorrow. Possible party at my place saturday, since my brother mike is back in town from Iraq.

I think for the next two days I may just sleep. Im soo tired, and I think i am getting somewhat sick.

New possible programs coming soon. I have been thinking a bit of a project I want to do including C# and iTunes!

Lastly, can everyone keep one of my friends, amy nixon, and her family in your thoughts and prayers? She lost her sister yestereday…who I only met a few times. Ive known amy since we were in elementry school, and our families have known each other for a while as well. She is also the one who had her birthday just last weekend, where I posted pics in the gallery.

Quick Post

I have been quite busy programing, so i have not been able to post that much recently.

This weekend was pretty cool actually. Friday night was Amy’s Birthday party. It was quite nice, seeing a few of my older friends from middle school, and debs seeing many of the people she went to hermiatage with. Around 12:45, the cops showed up though. They even sang happy birthday! In the meantime, everyone cleared out. The party resumed back at 1411 at Kats. A ton of people that no one knew came as well, and we promptly asked them to leave, and then had a blast. Pictures are available in my Gallery.

Debs and I slept in a little on Saturday morning, and then ran around town enjoying the great day. We went down to carytown as well as short pump town center. We got some great candy from the candy store down there, and i picked up amy’s birthday present. Also, my brother mike is back from iraq for a few weeks. So we had an early “thanksgiving” dinner with the whole family. Quite nice, and I ate way to much. For some reason I got sick and tired, so debs and I came home and passed out. I did a bit more programing, and when about to go to bed…I get a call. Everyone was going down to Baja.

Baja was quite fun, it was only a few of us. Well, when we are getting ready to go, a fight breaks out. Everyone was quite drunk ( I was not though, im laying off the beer, and just wanted to relax ). Well, this one guy pulled out some brass knuckles. The cops eventually showed up (you know, the great Richmond Police! Takes them forever to do anything downtown). We pointed out the guys that were walking away down main, and all they did was stop and talk to them, and let them go. Again, I LOVE how secure the richmond’s police keep us! After baja we went over to one of nates friends on Marshal, and chilled there for a while.

Today was pretty laid back. Went to see courtney this morning to get some very nice coffee. We then went to Church, and then went out to lunch. I made debs and I some very delicious Fetucine Alfredo with Seasoned Chicken. Ive been programing most of the night, and got quite a bit done. Had to do a little on call work as well. Most of the group went to Funny Bone tonight, but I personally wasnt ready to drop $50 on two tickets to someone I havent heard of before.

I am hoping this week is a little better than last. Program should be done tomorrow night. Then, not much going on in class this week, and we have thursday and friday off. Some friends are going out of town this weekend, but we may still be having a party here for my step-brother before he gos back (if not this weekend, its going to be the weekend after).

Honeymoon Locations?!?

Anyone and everyone that reads this, or just drops by, I need your help. Debs and I have picked a list of random cities and places in the world that we wouldnt “mind” going to. But with so many to choose from, its hard to even start to think about a place really to go. Some of the top picks right now are Chicago, Seattle, and L.A., and possibly Paris or Rome. But anything goes.

The city doesnt need to be all “romantic”, but would be nice to have some really cool things to do. For example, one would go to Seattle since you have Mt. St. Hellens, Pikes Market, and the Space Needle. One would go to LA since you have everything from movie stars, to tech-like stuff, to theme parks.

If you can, post a comment here to tell me where you would go, and why!!!

Google Reader and other news

Google released a new web app today, Reader. Its an RSS reader that is linked with your gmail/google account. I played with it a little earlier on, to see how it looked and worked, and its very nice.

I have had the issue recently about reading my feeds between machines. For the most part, I just Remote Desktop into my home PC to read from Sharpreader. This can be slow, and somewhat annoying at times. While there are a few apps that will track what you have read and not read, I have not found a cross platform solution yet.

Something like this may be perfect. While there is no current way for it to alert you of new posts without going to the page, it will keep track of the posts I have read or not read yet. And then, since it is online, I can really check

For those that have not gotten into the whole blog world yet, this may be a great start!

This weekend should be nice. Last night we went to 80s night again at Mars Bar, and had quite a bit of fun. Today wasnt much except work. Tomorrow im sleeping in for sure though. Once Deborah gets off, were going over to courtney’s to help her fix her computer. Debs and I are going to go try to see the Corpse Bride tomorrow night, and then I dont know what we are doing.

And of course, more programing! The project got moved back by 5 days, but I still want to get it done as soon as possible.

Stupid Mistakes and Bug Fixes

Wow, I know I was getting a little rusty at programing, but I need to make sure I keep my eyes open. I spent about 30 minutes tonight wondering what the heck was up with my database conenction, when I realized that I had forgot to add quotes around items in my SQL statements! You know how annoying that is?!!

I did get quite a bit done tonight. I moved all my databases from mysql back into access. This was mainly because its going to take me more time to now set up an account on the professors mysql server, as well as change my connection strings. This whole process was actually quite easy using MySQL’s Query Browser.

I then got the whole database connection thing done, so I dont have to worry about that again. I can authenticate my users. I also got to work with reading in files from disk, which is something I had yet to do in C#. It was quite easy using the FileReader and then StreamReader.

I still have quite a bit to do, but this so far has been quite a bit of fun. I really cant wait to see the final project. I may also post this program eventually as a sample for others to check out, and I also would like to eventually make some write-ups on how to do things in C#.

But now it is time for something VERY important…REST!
