Oh yeah…I almost forgot

Tomorrow is April 1st

That means April Fool’s Day. While I dont pull to many chains or anything to out of the ordinary, there is something I always love…the Slashdot stories! While last years weren’t that good…the year before had some AWSOME ones.

I really recommend if you have even the slightest interest in technology…you check out slashdot tomorrow!

Im Listening to: ‘Pickin’ Wildflowers’ by Keith Anderson from the album Pickin’ Wildflowers – Single

It sucked anyways…

Well, I after I got out of class, I went to get a bite to eat and then now in the labs. Before I got to work on making a cheat-sheet for TCP/IP quiz tonight, I was checking my news and friends sites. Well, I lookeed on Tess’s site. I saw that super cool 8 foot NES pad. But…wait a minute, those are the guys from the new, crappy ‘screen savers’ on G4TechTV. So I click through and see that they are from a new show, “Attack of the Show”. Looking around more, I found at ForeverGeek this. I couldnt stand the fact that Leo left (and Chris Prillio when he quit as well a while back), and then kept that same name. I have yet to check it out (really only get a chance to watch x-play nowadays). Oh well, at least they are not killing it even more….

What a week(end)

Yah…this is going to be a long one…

The car was in the shop ALL week, trying to get fixed. Deborah went and picked it up for me, and before she was a mile away, it overheated AGAIN. So…back to the shop, for dad to test some more. Basicly he took it for a few more drives, but the last one set his mind. He went up to Ukrops, and on the way, he saw a little smoke, as well as the car just getting higher and higher. The car was delivered back home yesterday (I got to take it off the trailer…dads shop is the only place ill let carry my stuff).

When taking the pictures in the link I posted earlier today, I decided to take a short drive. I jumped in, and did about a 4 mile lap around our area. Once it warmed up, it started to overheat….but then went to nothing, and all around. Called dad, and he said did the same for him. I thought this would be sensors, but he said “no, because its overfilling the overflow, bubbling, etc”. So, come to the conclusion of taking the loss and selling the car. Its not all bad…i was ready to get something different anyways.

I think I landed it too. A VERY nice looking 1995 Pontiac Grand Am GT sedan. Its white, spoiler, dual exhaust, 16″ wheels with low profile tires, clean interior, and detailed engine bay. Needs a new radiator (but that may be paid for) and a brand new battery was put in yesterday. Started just fine. I cant WAIT to hear this thing run either….duals on a 3100 :-D. That the same motor in the cutlass, but in a car that weighs quite a bit less. Its not going to become a money pit to fix all up…but I would like to have a nice, sporty, clean looking car. Id like to save money for a place to get out…but can still have a little fun with this thing :).

And, yes, it would be cheaper to fix the cutlass than to go all out with another car…but its like putting a bandaid on someone that needs stiches. Moreso, im ready for another car anyways. The car is awsome, i just dont have the time to fix it up the way it needs. So buy it!

In other news, I got a new toy. I went to the apple store to get a job application that I NEED to get in, and bought me something. I had picked up a refurbished iPod, and was looking around. This nice asian gal came over to debs and I and asked where I went to school, caus VCU students got discounts at the Short Pump Apple Store. So, I got me a brand new, silver, iPod Mini. Loaded it up with about 500 songs now…listening to it while at school. I LOVE it!

Back to work…i need to fix these pictures of the cutlass to put up on ebay, work on my resume, work on this site, and work on my SQL homework.

so so

You know, im sitting here wanting to write something…and had been thinking of writing something all day…but now when I sit down to write it out…it just all seems so meaningless. Eh…today wasnt that good….but still quite interesting, fun, and learning…which is always nice. But, instead of sugar (well..i dont use sugar any more really)…so instead of Splenda-coating it, ill just tell ya the nice things.

I was told earlier on that the site I was working on would have a few more weeks till it went live. Well, this morning, I was asked pretty early if I could have it ready to go live NEXT WEEK. I said sure, of course, since most of the development is done. I just gotta make it look all purdy with fancy pictures and tweak my Dreamweaver Template and CSS file. While talking to the graphic arts guy Norbert (Heh, im sure Tess remembers him!), we started talking about basic page layout and design (something im interested in).

Well, he brought these over…

They have a date on them of 1991…but check out who they are made by! Even more interesting? To my knowledge…they used this same kind of design in all their work (well, printed) over many years, at LEAST until Steve came back. I looked through them, and some really cool stuff in there. Id love to have something like this, or at least have all this kinda stuff memorized some day.

Hrm, other than that…the day sucked mostly! Went to the gym after work, then to the truck ( I got it back from debs today ), ryan into Brian E. and chatted a while before dinner. Class…didnt do to well on the exam, but oh well. I deserved it..and I can easily bring it up.

Im ready for the weekend….I think.

Im Listening to: ‘Little Dreamer’ by Van Halen from the album Van Halen

Cars in the shop :(

Did the same thing today as I mentioned in my post the other day.

This time, I noticed that the overflow was full with a murky orange fluid (Dexcool and something!). I was even able to take the rad. cap off the thing was so cold.

So, this is just great. After having dad help me with a few things testing it, I put some water by his request in, and drove home, and parked her. Of course the ride home…it was ice cold and just fine. Called AAA and had it towed by Fletchers, and set down over on their lot for dad to check out tomorrow.

Pumped about getting out, and wanting a new car…but sure hope its not this way. The early diagnostic? Bad thermostat (most likely), bad sensors, or the worse….head gasket. Yah….my two least favorite words….

Im Listening to: ‘Tales Of A Scorched Earth’ by Smashing Pumpkins from the album Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness – Twilight To Starlight

Fun weekend…

I went on Friday night with my friend Jamie to Capital Ale House Innsbrook, since I hadn’t seen him in a while. We hung out at the bar, and then all of a suddon all these guys (and gals) wearing their kilts and playing their bagpipes walk right infront of us…and heading outside. So, we decided to follow, and went out there to a nice, heated tent, where they had more drinks, and everything was green! So, hung out there for a while, then headed on home, since I had to be up REALLY early, to go to the Metro Richmond Science Fair.

Got there around 7, which was great, for having no clue where I was going, and some shady directions to start with. It was held at James River High School, which actually was just over the river off 288. Had breakfast there with Becca (I think that was her name…heh…it was Martha’s (lady who heads up the fair and works at the MSC with me) daughter), and her best friend Jenn, who I happened to know, since she goes to VCU, we took a class together, and we both left GMU after our first years.

The fair was nice…I took a TON of pics (well, 50+), all on one set of batteries! Pretty amazed myself. I was judging Jr. Physics, with a guy that was in charge of Physical Science at the Science Museum of VA. I swear these middle schoolers knew more about physics than I did! It was pretty nice, and laid back. Had a nice lunch, again with Jenn and them after all the judging was done. I took a few more pics after checking all our math and turning in our sheets, and then went ahead home.

For the most part last night, I didnt do much. I took mom all around the world so she could find more things to waste her money on in the kitchen. Then, came home, and sat around. I wasn’t feeling to swell, and it just got worse as the night went on. I was all stuffy, and a bad headache.

After waiting hours for mom still not to decide what they wanted for dinner, I zoomed off to go to McAlisters Deli in Short Pump, caus my friend Kristen works up there. The ride was quite exciting. One thing that amazed me was that the Cutlass laid some rubber on good ole westshire lane. Next thing, was that when I was turning onto Pump….I looked at the guages and the Temp was PEGGED on the High! WTF?

So, I park, turn the car off, and wait. Turn the power back on, and the guage is droping, but not as fast as I would think. So I think pop the hood….and ALL the air around it is cold? If the engine was running that hot…no matter HOW cold it is outside…that engine bay would be quite warm. The heater was also blowing out cold air….I.E. the car hadn’t warmed up yet. Went in, ordered my food and talked to Kristen for a while (she got to go to SC for break, and was just talking about school and getting out and stuff, I dont get to talk to her much at school, only online now and then). When I got back to the car, sure enough, it was ice cold. No problems since.

Washed both the car and the truck today, and worked on trying to get some crazy overspray off the wheel well of the Durango. Now going to get some cleaning done round here, work in the kitchen, and of course some good ole C#.NET goodness….
